Clarksville-Montgomery County School System (CMCSS) is a system of schools in Montgomery County, Tennessee serving a population of over 147,000 people. It is the seventh largest district in Tennessee and has earned whole district accreditation. CMCSS is also ISO 9001 certified – a standard of effectiveness and efficiency recognized by businesses and organizations around the world. Michael Harris is the Director of Schools.
There are 36 schools in the district serving approximately 29,800 children from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. CMCSS educates children in 36 schools in the district: one K-5 Magnet School, 20 elementary, 7 middle, 7 high, and one Middle College. It employs about 3,900 teachers, administrators and support staff.
The system operates 7 area high schools in addition to Middle College which is a select environment on the campus of Austin Peay State University that allows high school juniors to take one university course for credit. High school seniors may take two courses for credit.
